maria isn't powerful enough to be able to stop a match whenever she wants to, that's not even the umpire's decision. |

The policy for "light/darkness" is flawed right now. I think it should be up to the players playing instead of the supervisor.
I've read that Henin wanted to continue and Maria didn't (per Michael Joyce's advice). I know it wasn't up to Maria but wanting to suspend play just feels like a bad strat.
Playing a best-of-one tennis is pretty risky. You're not as tuned-in as you were with 2 sets worth of play behind you. Though that applies to Henin also, I think it was more advantageous for her since she's a natural in clay.
Again, it's the supervisor that makes the call. So I guess it's all pretty irrelevant. |

It's easy to criticize bad decisions after the fact. sure, maria might well have had the momentum she needed to win the match had they kept playing, fine.
but the next day she came out the better player, got a quick break and had 3 chances to go up 3-0. the reason she lost this match was all the chances she wasted to really put henin's back against the wall. too many to count. not because the match was suspended after the 2nd set. |
